In Fortune Telling cont.
Equally, of the Minor Arcana, the seven of Discs, named ‘failure’, does not necessarily denote the failure of any plans or intentions of the querent, no card stands alone and other cards in the spread will add to or clarify the direction of its influence.
On a map such as this, limited space determines that the wording for individual cards must be concise and it is therefore impossible to describe all shades of positive and negative influence for every card. It should, however, be relatively simple for any operator, even a complete novice, to calculate that when, fore example, the Queen of Swords is ill-dignified by adjacent cards, her acute powers of perception and observation enable her to know precisely how, when and where to cut an adversary deepest, inflicting the greatest harm with ease. Do we not all know someone exactly like her?
One can readily deduce therefore she represents a person you would not want as an enemy, although if she is to be kept on one’s side it may be prudent to exercise caution in how much she is allowed to know.
The attributes given for each card are intended as an aid to memory and are no substitute for full study of the meaning and symbolism of each. Further information of this sort is widely available.
If you do not wish to consider yourself a ‘serious’ student of Tarot and want to treat readings as a ‘bit of fun’ then the meanings given here are probably all you need.
